This five-day hands-on workshop introduces participants to identity and access management, federated identity principles, and eduroam deployment. Over the week, participants will move from foundational IAM and federation concepts through practical labs covering OpenLDAP, FreeRADIUS, and SimpleSAMLphp (Identity and Service Provider setup), before tackling federation metadata exchange, governance and security policy, and real-world case studies such as eduID.africa. The workshop closes with a group exercise to draft a national eduroam/federation roadmap and an open Q&A session.
The workshop is designed for network engineers, systems administrators, and identity management practitioners from research and education institutions who want practical, lab-based experience deploying and managing federated identity and eduroam infrastructure.
